Wilmington Aliyah Project - Progress Report for 2009
Publicity
· Sent out a mailer in late 2008 to announce the start of the Wilmington Aliyah Project, following prayer effort by a group of city leaders to help launch Wilmington into its calling regarding Aliyah.
· Produced a brochure describing the Aliyah Project that has been given to 100s of people and posted online.
· Created a website for The Wilmington Aliyah Project and purchased domain addresses: www.AliyahProject.com www.WilmingtonAliyah.com We are currently top rated on the Google search engine.
Educational
· Gathered informative material about Aliyah and regulations about it in Israel.
· Taught in churches and conferences across the US and CANADA about the importance of Israel, and God’s endtime agenda to bring His people Israel back into relationship to Him and to the land of Israel.
· Led community “Feasts of Israel” during the year at sites around Wilmington to educate and celebrate God’s plans and purposes regarding Israel and stress the importance of Aliyah.
Collaboration
· Met with several local pastors & leaders individually to discuss the project.
· Met and consulted with key agencies involved in Aliyah internationally to build good working relationships with other organizations involved in Aliyah. We want to serve in a manner that complements efforts for Aliyah already in place.

- Cyrus Foundation. Met with Deborah Kellogg in Wilmington, NC, and visited her at her base in Arad, ISRAEL. www.CyrusFoundation.org

- Return Ministries. This is a major organization in CANADA that educates about & assists with Aliyah. Talked with old friend & director Dean Bye by phone on several occasions. Visited his staff and base near Toronto and led a training conference for them. www.Return.co.il
c. Met with the leaders of Ebenezer Operation Exodus in Jerusalem. This group is one of the largest Aliyah organizations. Discussed our role with the executive directors. www.Operation-Exodus.org
d. Met with Jewish leaders in Israel to discuss current Aliyah needs.
e. Met with leaders of Sephardim Hope, Drake and Grace Fenn, whose focus is assisting Hispanic Jews make Aliyah. Discussed key issues with them at their current base in California. www.SephardicHope.net
Financial Assistance
Gave donations to several groups in Israel who assist people in need with Aliyah: Dorit’s feeding program, Eddie’s Aliyah assistance; Donna’s unwed mother assistance. Also to Return Israel and Cyrus Foundation.
Counseling & Advise
· Counseled and ministered to Russian Jews in Israel regarding personal issues regarding their Aliyah, to intercessors from the nations on Mt. Zion; also to Russian Jews in Brooklyn NY .
· Counseled several families in depth who have approached us for assistance with Aliyah.
· Worked with about 24 individuals who want more knowledge about Aliyah and what it entails.
· Assisted our first family complete Aliyah: Mike Stone of Fayetteville.
We assisted them stateside, and also in Israel, checking out possible rental sites for Mike’s beauty salon, to be established in Jerusalem. Mike writes: ”Working with Ron and Carol Cohen has been a good inspiration. With wonderful teaching, hospitality, and financial assistance, they have been a blessing to assist me in making Aliyah a wonderful experience for me and my children. Thank you very much and keep up the good work.”
Facilities in Israel & Wilmington
Formulated proposal for our first Aliyah Base in Israel. Consulted with knowledgeable people in Israel about projected budget for the base and possible sites there. Began discussions about a house for rent near the Sea of Galilee. Wilmington base continues to be our home in Porters Neck.
Staff and Volunteers
· Set up prayer support under the leadership of Mrs. Shirley Defendorf.
Drew up data base of volunteers who have offered to help with the Aliyah Project in Wilmington and also help staff a base in Israel. Began discussions with a person interested in serving as a volunteer to co-ordinate volunteers for the Aliyah Project. Also with someone who has offered to serve as research co-ordinator.
